Vietnam’s tropical fruit belt gives local beverage producers an enormous raw-material advantage — if they have the right processing and filling technology. A Ho Chi Minh City brand approached us to build a turnkey mango and passion fruit juice line capable of preserving fresh tropical flavour while meeting shelf-stable, room-temperature distribution requirements across Southeast Asia.
Project Background
The client sourced fresh mango and passion fruit locally but lacked the processing capability to convert pulp into a stable, packaged juice drink. They wanted a hot-fill PET line that could handle high-pulp beverages without clogging, retain natural colour and aroma, and achieve a 12-month ambient shelf life without preservatives beyond standard acidity control.
Line Configuration
- Fruit handling: washing, sorting, pulping and refining for mango and passion fruit
- Blending: batching tanks with high-shear mixing for pulp, sugar, acid and juice concentrate
- Degassing and homogenising: to stabilise mouthfeel and prevent oxidation
- Sterilisation: tubular UHT/pasteuriser sized for high-viscosity, high-pulp product
- Hot filling: 8,000 BPH monobloc filling at 85-92°C into heat-resistant PET bottles
- Cooling tunnel, labelling, coding and shrink packaging
Challenges Solved
High-pulp tropical juices are notorious for scaling heat exchangers and blocking filling valves. We selected a tubular steriliser with wide flow channels and a large-diameter hot-fill valve to handle fibrous passion fruit. A nitrogen-free degassing step preserved the bright mango colour that the brand’s marketing depended on.
Results
The line was commissioned within two weeks and reached target output with consistent fill temperature control, ensuring commercial sterility. The brand launched two SKUs — pure mango and mango-passion blend — and reports strong repeat orders from convenience-store chains.
